Hypnosis for Trauma
What is trauma?
Trauma can be associated and linked to an incident or events that include life threatening incidents and loss of life. Divorce, loss of limbs and job loss can form part of trauma. It is important to keep in mind that each person's reaction to and experience of traumatic events, are different with each individual. Trauma after an incident accompanies you without you knowing about it or giving it permission. The body's natural reaction to a life-threatening incident or loss, is neurological in nature. The brain receives and sends the message to all the important parts of the itself where the stress hormone adrenaline is secreted. The brain has the ability to categorize experiences and observations. The part of the brain that remembers is affected - stress hormones are passed on to the logical part of the brain. |

Here, the reaction and actions of the persons during the incident can be totally different and unpredictable. Physical trauma causes a sudden discontinuity in cognitive and emotional experience that often persists after the trauma has passed. This leads to symptoms such as memory loss and intrusive reliving of the event. Hypnosis provides controlled access to memories that may otherwise be kept outside of consciousness. The application of hypnosis can change the connection, as well as the access to the dissociated traumatic memories with positive restructuring.
